We are overjoyed to introduce the NPRT Garden-Along!
One of the things many of us treasure about gardening is the peace and quiet we get, working away busily in our little patches of dirt. But sometimes we want to feel as if we're gardening with friends- if only so we can pick up a random leaf and ask, "What is this from?" or point at a seedling and go, "Native annual or weed?" To help us in this, we've created the NPRT Garden-Along. Think of this as a book club for California native gardening.
We will share suggestions about things you can do, plan and see in the garden, tailored to the time of year, weather, and local activities. We hope to foster a robust and dynamic conversation online with lots of questions and suggestions. We plan to host occasional online gatherings featuring guest speakers, and the opportunity to share our successes and challenges. We are also looking at ways to gather in person, or to promote existing events as learning opportunities. Encourage your friends to sign up to be a member of NPRT and they can join in the fun as well!
As members of the Native Plant Resource Teams, we have an opportunity to learn together as we tend our native gardens. Our NPRT Google group is over 600 strong and includes members who have been gardening for many years and many ‘newbies’ as well. With our “Garden-Along” group, we can connect and share information about the work we’re doing in our gardens each month and also share our observations.
Every week or two (so far- this is still a seedling of a group!), watch your in-box for emails on the NPRT google group with “Garden-Along” in the subject line and join in the fun! We encourage discussions and conversations via the comments section on this blog, or with the wider group on the NPRT e-mail list.
