About Us
This is the California native plant community you’ve been waiting for!
Thank you for your interest in the Native Plant Resource Teams, a program of the Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tours! Below are answers to questions you might have about the Resource Teams and our online tools.
What are the goals of the Native Plant Resource Teams?
By creating these teams, our goals are to:
Bring together individuals with similar interests and goals, and that they will, locally and independently, help each other with native plant projects.
Foster friendships, encourage neighbors to help each other, and build community.
Give each other a hand starting and working on local native projects; from lawn conversions, pollinator pathways or larger scale public native plant garden projects.
Share knowledge through active curiosity and mentorship. Those who are new to native gardening can learn from more experienced team members.
Let’s be the change we want to see!
How will the Teams operate?
The Native Plant Resource Teams are a new idea, so how they will work and what they will do is still evolving. But as to how they will operate, really—the Teams will live or die by the effort that Team members put into making something happen. So, we hope you are ready to be an active participant, and will lean into making friends, be involved in asking or answering questions in the list-serve, and will ask for help or offer guidance or assistance to other Team members.
What Teams are there?
Our teams are organized in two broad categories:
Interest Area - this enables team members from all corners of the Bay Area to meet virtually and in person to delve into a specific topic
Regional - this enables team members within an area to meet and collaborate on projects.
At the moment the following teams have moderators and are meeting regularly:
NPRT Interest Area Teams:
Home Gardens
Pollinator Pathways and Public Gardens
Sharing Native Seeds & Plants Team
City Trees and Public Policy Team
HOAs and Communal Living
Green /Electrified Homes
NPRT Regional Teams:
Tri-Valley Team
Berkeley Team

Regional affiliates (not managed by NPRT, but with similar goals)
San Leandro HomeGrown Habitats, You can sign up for local event email updates via their website: https://www.sanleandro.org/1154/Homegrown-Habitats-San-Leandro
We also have a few teams that are still looking for coordinators/leads to get started - for example:

A new group for your city or region
Please let Janet Flint and Jennifer Dirking know if you would like to form a team and they can help you get set up by emailing us at nprt-info-team AT googlegroups DOT com .
How can I get help with a project or idea I have in mind?
If you would like help with a project or idea, ask for it on the Native Plant Resource Team list-serve!
Post your activities, meetings, and success stories to the email list!
Kathy Kramer will be looking for stories about Team projects to include in Bringing Back the Natives Tour emails, in hopes of getting more people involved with the Teams and their projects.
How do I join an Interest or Regional Team?
When you fill out our Team Membership form, you can choose the teams you would like to join. If you later decide to join different teams, you simply fill out the same form again with your new choices.
Get started by clicking HERE and filling out the Team Membership form.
